I have a Nokia wireless (BT/WiFi) scale that works with Apple Health. It's been fine for years. A week ago it suddenly went into Setup mode.

In that mode you're supposed to pair the scale with your iPhone via the Withings app. Trouble is, pairing always failed.

So, I checked Bluetooth settings on the iPhone (14 Pro) and found that the scale was not listed as an available "Other Device". If it were in pairing mode, it should appear there. It didn't appear on my wife's iPhone 14 either.

So, I used the hcitool on a Rasperry Pi and, sure enough, this is the scale:

Code:
pi@sky:~ $ sudo hcitool lescan | grep Body
00:24:E4:61:B0:DB Body DA
00:24:E4:61:B0:DB Body DA
00:24:E4:61:B0:DB Body DA

So, I check on my M2 MBA and the scale shows up there as well.

At that point I figured I'd install the iOS Withings app on my MBA to see if it would work.

Sure enough, I was able to pair the MBA and the scale and do the entire setup process including setting up WiFi on the scale.

Now the scale works as before and syncs data (via WiFi I suppose) with the Withings iPhone app and Apple's Health app,

So, why couldn't my iPhone "see" the Bluetooth scale while both a Raspberry Pi and an M2 MBA found it immediately?
