Yesterday I had to reset my iMac (2008 aluminium) because of a generalized instability (it was a couple of weeks IDid not restart it).
Anyway, once restarted, the wireless Mighty mouse was gone. I conneted the wired one, searched for Bluetooth and a message saying I did not have it installed.

I recall I updated the firmware when it came out, 2-3 weeks ago.
Any hint? Could I try reinstall the driver?

Check your system profiler. Apple at top left, about this mac, click more info. Make sure Bluetooth is still recognized. I assume you already went to System Preferences and tried turning it on. Is that when it gave you the error?

Yes, I did check. I also searched in the Finder's search. I got a warning saying I did not have BT installed.

I'm going to try download again the driver firmware patch and reinstall it.

"We are deeply sorry about what has happened sir. But it seems your iMac has had a severe stroke and has forgotten several daily functions. The diagnosis of bluetooth is it forgot it had it. Now you must try to re-learn it. This takes several months and will not be easy."

Just stick in your OSX discs and see if it can help you while you are not running in your profile. It could be profile related.

Bluetooth disappeared from my mac mini after I installed windows 7. A reboot fixed my problem, but I assume you've tried that.
