Can you use bluetooth earbuds with the Apple Watch with phone calls?

I know you can use them to listen to music, etc. If this can be done, what are the better ones to use for this?

I've had limited success only using siri voice commands via 3rd party basic bluetooth earphones
Though my earphones are supposed to be able to accept incoming calls with a verbal 'voice' command
I haven;t had any success at all with calls.
Very tempted to purchase AirPods -though my inexpensive bluetooth earphones are amazing for music from all Apple devices including se1 watch. Once they connect I can control volume and enjoy music in gym.
As previously mentioned think AirPods are probably safe bet for voice calls -though I'm not a Siri fan-disappointed volume is Siri only via AirPods -I'll wait a few months and maybe there could be AirPods 2 with physical volume controls or tap commands.

He clearly states he wants to use it with Apple Watch. With Apple Watch controlling volume wouldn't be an issue since you can easily use Apple Watch for that.

Controlling volume via watch iPhone or iPad Pro is possible.
Controlling via headphones could be simpler maybe a tap or slide type volume control

You can't put Apple Watch in the same category as iPhone or iPad in this case since all you need to do with the watch is lifting your wrist & turn the crown. That's all. It's virtually as simple as controlling volume via physical control on any headphone.
The way you wrote I have a feeling you haven't tried Apple Watch in combination with AirPods yet.

I haven't purchased AirPods yet, trying to justify similar cost of most recent Apple Smart Keyboard purchase.
As I can listen and control music via entry level Bluetooth headphones, then I'm asking myself in what way would AirPods enhance my listening experience-No noise cancellation-honestly. I am tempted to alllow considerable time for 2nd gen AirPods to arrive.
My point was AirPods are currently Siri only for volume etc-I haven't had a great deal of success with Siri though I can call voicemail via Siri+existring 3rd party bluetooth headphones-which have volume control slider -simple.

Another option, one that I favour because I run in the local woodland at night, is the BeatsX which also use the W1 but include volume controls and hang from a cord around your neck.

BeatsX work great with both music and phone features of the AppleWatch 3.

Interesting BeatsX mention’ I shall search Uk providers and read some reviews, thanks

Since reviewed Beats Solo3 -once though too expensive at least in UK.
Maybe I'll try searching BeatsX as suggested!

Possibly settled BeatsX -White, thought I was going to choose Silver-though that's 2 working day delay.
Could pick up white tomorrow + saving a decent amount of cash.
In time for tues afternoon resistance trainining.

Maybe I should clarify....... I need to be able to answer calls on my Watch in noisy environments. I am having trouble hearing the caller without hold the Watch near my ear. This is not ideal. So I want to use some ear bud/pod/etc. to help with this.

Thanks all

Today after considering beats x/Sonny etc
I since purchased AirPods
Sir is working -call voicemail"you have 6 voiecemails" volume 50%-volume changes as requested.
Sounds are nice-not too loud with a little base beat-amazingly clear
Some excellent reviews and suggestions via macrumours-Respect!
Gym visit today-will I miss noise cancellation-maybe time will tell

1 more question since todays nice gym session, Double Tap Siri wasn't happening at all as music from Beats 1 continued
Siri was amazing when I brought AirPods home earlier.
As I don't get wifi in local council gym -should Siri revert to used my mobile data or do I have too manually switch to data myself-or is my question irrelevant if wifi is required.
AirPods are certainly light in ears -music is clear not exactly pumping high volumes-maybe they're being nice to my ears.
Did notice though gym music is ovrerwhleming v AirPods though I found almost ambient sound level from AirPods almost soothing during 15 mins workouts.
Nice techs purchase, lets hope they last for a years or two which others have quoted.
Made 1 call to parents who commented my voice was nice and clear -think AirPods are a little clearer than car bluetooth.
Love the Charing case with led's -very smart -does the built in battery last or do I re charge closer to 5-10% power to use.

My newly updated iPhone 8 - ios12 no longer has bluetooth for phone calls...all others apps have bluetooth functionality = but the blur tooth icon disappears on screen when calling or answering with phone
