I have the old beats studio wireless headphones, and they lag when watching video. I also have the original Amazon Echo from when it first came out. Its audio also lags when I watch video.
I am trying to add Bluetooth to my electronic drum set. I bought an external Bluetooth transmitter and tried it out and the lag was horrible. 1/4 of a second at least, totally unacceptable for a live drum set. I have about the cheapest pair of Bluetooth earbuds, cost like $20. So I tried the same earbuds out with this laptop playing the sync video someone posted in this thread and the it was in perfect sync. So now I know my lag is coming from the transmitter. All I need to do is find a transmitter that has no lag. Here is the transmitter I tried out:Much like your TV, that has horrendous delay between input of pixel data to display, it's compensated. With bluetooth you get a similar delay to input, for instance an iOS drum machine will have a noticeable delay when using bluetooth headphones vs wired headphones. However it syncs with content such as videos to align them just like your TV does.
I personally would go for a headphone with the W1 apple chip. I use the Beats X and love them, very long battery life, super fast to charge, sounds great and a long press of the power button makes a popup on iOS to connect without any messing with settings or bluetooth! Very convenient indeed.
Just because you see no lag in the video doesn’t mean the Bluetooth headphones don’t have a delay, it just means that the video is delayed to match the audio delay. From my experiences (I play the drums myself), the latency of wireless headphones while playing an instrument simply can’t be fixed with current technology. The delay would have to be less than 10 ms for you not to notice it, and this simply doesn’t give enough time for the data to transmit, be decoded by the headphones, and played into your earsI am trying to add Bluetooth to my electronic drum set. I have already shipped it back to Amazon. Does anyone have a suggestion for a different transmitter I can try out?
I did a bunch of reading about the lag problem today and discovered aptX which claims to have the lowest latency around so I ordered a transmitter that has aptX built in.
Yes I realize that and the earbuds I have do not support aptX so if they don't work I will get a pair of aptX earbuds. Thanks for the heads up.For AptX to work, your bluetooth receiver (earbuds in this case) will also have to support the AptX protocol.
I’d love to hear about how this works out for you. I’m a drummer too and it’s quite annoying needing hired headphone specifically for that. Good luck on getting everything working!I did a lot of work syncing two mono copies together to make fake stereo. You are right about the 10ms delay. I found that if the two channels were less than 20ms apart it was hard to hear it but at 10ms it was impossible to detect.

It will be here Friday and I will post my opinion on it. I do agree with you that the technology might not yet be ready to do a set of drums but I am going to give it a try. Thanks for your opinion.

This is what the specs say for this transmitter:
"NO AUDIO DELAY: Experience your media at its best, thanks to aptX Low Latency – making the TC026 the ideal tool for watching movies and playing video games."
I will definitely be reporting back. I will have the transmitter on Friday and if it doesn't work I will order the earbuds and they will arrive on Monday of next week. I really hate having a set of wires on me while drumming so I am going to do whatever it takes to get zero lag.I’d love to hear about how this works out for you.
