I was just fooling around on my iMac and turned on my bluetooth to connect to a device and while scanning for a device it totally interrupted my internet service coming over a wireless connection. Is this normal or should this be happening? And when I say interrupted I mean just lost the ability to surf at all though signal strength to my router was great as always. Stopped the bluetooth and all is well.

It would be possible that the bluetooth signal had caused interference with your WiFi network, because both technologies uses the same RF band of 2.4GHz. You might want to try selecting a different channel for your WiFi router, and try again. :apple:
