Hey guys! So, I've been having this weird issue on my work MacBook Pro (15", Mid 2012 model) where my mouse and keyboard fail to respond, and then disconnect from the computer for 1-2 minutes before reconnecting and working fine for hours or days at a time (until it all starts again). One day on bootup I also saw the bluetooth icon in the menu bar grayed out, and when I clicked on it it said "Bluetooth not available" (but it promptly went away and my devices connected again).

I had previously tried trashing bluetooth preferences, deleting the mouse and keyboard from the device list and re-added them, and reset the SMC. I had also tried the Apple hardware test before but it was taking too long and I had work to do. So I finally set it up to run the test as I was leaving work last night. I come in this morning to find that the progress bar hadn't moved an inch.

Pic of where it got stuck. Weird that it wouldn't go past '11 seconds'...

What's confusing is this issue seems to rear its head very randomly. I've been looking at the console logs (bluetooth crashes have been happening starting on February 24th...) and it seems like it can happen as few as every couple of days, or as many as 20 times a day (seriously... that happened...)

I'm considering making a genius appointment, but wanted to see if anyone else has had these issues/has advice. I don't really feel like going to the Apple Store straight out of work, but maybe this is a good chance to go check out the new trackpad on the 13" Pro :p

Well, it gets weirder now...

Went to the Apple Store on Friday (boss ever so kindly let me out a bit early considering this is my work computer) and a genius took a look at the machine. He went through a couple of diagnostic tests, and came to the conclusion that something was wrong with the WiFi/Bluetooth card, and they replaced the Airport/BT card, as well as the cable attaching them to the logic board. They also wanted to keep my machine for 24 hours to keep an eye on it.

Saturday night I got a call from them saying it was ready to be picked up. I couldn't make it in there that night, so I came back Sunday and picked it up. When I got home I opened it up and connected my mouse/keyboard to see if it happened again. It was the weekend though, so I wasn't using them at all (they were just sitting, but connected).

Monday rolls around, and I get to work and have been using the machine just fine most of the day. Then as I'm working it happens again. I can't help but just shake my head and sigh. Checked the console logs and the bluetooth (process blued) has crashed 6 separate times today. Overall, from the first day this started (February 24th) it has happened a total of 156 times...

I'm usually not one to be stumped by software issues, and am pretty adept at handling OS X bugs, but this one is very confusing to me.

I have a Bluetooth mouse that will disconnect shortly after I start using it, guaranteed. Currently I can't connect the mouse at all. I looked at my System Report and it says that Bluetooth:

Discoverable: Off

I also took your tip and looked at my Console and found this:

4/2/15 10:53:48.687 System Preferences[392]: Failed to connect (mPasskeyDisplay) outlet from (IOBluetoothDevicePairViewController) to (IOBluetoothPasskeyDisplay): missing setter or instance variable

I will take my MacBook to an Apple Genius. Already had to give it up for three days this past November, so I'm afraid this will happen again. :(
