I just purchased a refurbished Logitech Ultrathin keyboard for iPad 3. I like it except it is the first bluetooth accessory that did not prompt me for a passcode to join it.

Doesn't this present a security issue? Couldn't someone tap into my signal and get copies of my keystrokes?

No. The two devices share a link key, or shared secret. When it's paired, it's paired. The resulting signal link is most likely encrypted as well.
