Targus has come out with their $70 "Targus Bluetooth Laser Mouse for Mac".

The distinguishing feature of this mouse would probably be its optical "touch scroll" button (for a Mighty Mouse user this has obvious appeal).

I ended up not liking the mouse and have gone back to my Bluetooth Mighty Mouse. Specifically, the Targus mouse has connection issues on boot, settings don't hold (e.g. scrolling and tracking speeds), and "Screen Zoom" does not work (a feature I used a lot). My guess is that most of the issues are due to an infuriatingly immature driver which breaks every Mac HUI ever invented.

I just bought this mouse (or one very similar) today. Although the list is $69 and amazon has it at $48.97, I purchased it at an OfficeMax for $29. I don't see the mouse on the website, and the mouse wasn't in the normal mouse section, but in a targus section in the back. So far I haven't had any problems with it other then the fact you can't program the buttons, except the side buttons, with the included driver preferencepane. The normal apple preference panes seem to work fine.

So far it seems to have no trouble waking my computer from sleep or working immediately after boot, as any mouse I have used before. I will give a better review after I have used it for a while.

One knock I have is the shape. It can be a little uncomfortable, but I usually find mice uncomfortable at least at first, so am hoping it will go away.

The scroll sensor is a little gimmicky but works.

Well laid-out guide

I have the Targus USB Bluetooth mouse that worked quite nicely with my PC laptop. Since I can't get the wheel to work or OS X to even recognize it (although the buttons work just fine without being officially recognized) this is a great place for me to start my search for a replacement.

Thanks for the data. Cheers!

Razer Orochi

Just got the Razer Orochi. Works fine without the drivers:)
had to use Steermouse to set up buttons 4 and 5. Unfortunately, I can't use buttons 6 and 7. I tried installing the drivers for windows using the parallels... unfortunately, i still can't set it up. But overall, its fine... looks very nice too...:)

Now that you've (probably) been using the Targus Laser Bluetooth Mouse for Mac for some time, do you have an opinion on whether you like it yet or not? I'm looking for a 5-button (I could do with 4, more would work too but I don't need them) bluetooth mouse and am curious of others' opinions. The Targus and the Radtech BT600 are currently my top two choices, although I am considering an MS Bluetooth mouse as well (even though some people say they've run into problems with them on the Mac).

Ha ha, I found this mouse also at officemax for $30 without even knowing it. It seems Targus is now manufacturing an entire line of Mac accessories. I have the same issue with the shape, I tend to pick up the mouse alot and this mouse is heavy and the shape doesn't help. At work I use a Logitech MX Revolution and getting home to this one is kind of a drag. I have the Razer Orochi coming in the mail which also happens to be Bluetooth and can do wired mode too. The Targus mouse is not a bad mouse though, just needs a little getting used to and i'm picky so dont count my "shape or weight" problem.

My two-year-old Logitech V270's starting to die.. the left mouse button seems to have lost its 'debounce' function, and sometimes I click and get no response, other times I click once and get multiple (2-3) clicks on-screen. My friend said his V270 had this problem too, before he got a new mouse with his new laptop.

I've still got my eye on the V470, which can now be had for NZ$75 (down from $100 the last time I looked into it), but has anyone successfully fixed a V270 with this button problem? From the symptoms I'd imagine I'd only need to replace the actual switch in the mouse. Can anyone confirm that?

Thanks! :D
