I have an iPhone 4S running on iOS 6.0.1 that I have been reluctant to update to iOS 7 because I have an updated 5c exhibiting the same problem. These two devices fail to search for any of my bluetooth devices or even for a nearby iPad. Any suggestions to overcome this will be welcome.
Bluetooth on my ipad 2 (&.0.4)and iphone 5s are pretty much flawless. IPAD 2 - connects to apple keyboard - apple tv - moto bt headphones - connects to car bt for streaming music iphone 5s - connects to car bt - streams to car bt - connects to Panasonic dect phone with bt - connects to moto bt headphones - connects to apple tv - connects to apple keyboard The flawless iphone connectivity to car was a surprise, due to the number of threads I read about b/t compatibility issues between the iphone 5 and car Bluetooth.
iOS devices have a limited Bluetooth stack. You won't be able to find an iPad or iPhone via Bluetooth using another iPhone unless hotspot is enabled. And I believe in iOS 7, if you're using airdrop iOS devices don't support the traditional Bluetooth transfer (if you're coming from a phone that supported it)
Maybe I can help you... I own a 4s, 5c, and iPad 2 so if you tell me the problem maybe I can try to figure it out.
Are they both in discovery mode? Also try holding the phone 2feet or more away sometimes holding things too close stop them from pairing. Also, I don't believe you can connect an iPhone to an iPad...for the second part u said...
Turn Bluetooth on and they search and search and there is nothing. Even at a distance. Very frustrating. I have tried rebooting turning Airplane mode on. Even resetting. No luck.
Could you have gotten a 5c with a defective Bluetooth transmitter/receiver. Try taking it to apple or your carrier and see what they say... Bring the device your trying to pair your iPhone with and maybe they will even try to pair them theirselves.
you know the bluetooth device has to be in discovery mode too right? (like your headphones or whatever) just having the device on wont make your phone see it.
My Plantronics Voyager Pro HD headset works just fine. However in order to get the bluetooth to work, I had to push in the on/off button for a few seconds until it began to switch back and fourth from blue to red, and back again, than the Plantronics paired with my iPhone 5S. It was that easy.
I just setup my dad's Bluetooth headset with his new iPhone. I had to reset the headset before I could pair it a new phone, you may have to do the same with yours.
That's exactly what I said but he told me the headphones were in discovery mode already...I think that he isn't turning the headphone discovery on the right way as u stated.
Just an aside, I've noticed my Apple bluetooth keyboard won't pair with something new if it can still "see" the old device.
