Anyone have the JBL Flip 3 speaker. From the reviews it seems to be the best speaker in the $100 range.
The only thing that is holding me back is the lack of the waterproofing. JBL ranks it as splash proof. How water resistant is it? How does it hold up at the beach with sand? I like the UE boom better but I'm not a fan of the sound it seems to bass-ey more so then the new Beats. I really liked the Bose mini but there is no waterproofing/splash-proof and I planed to use it at the beach etc and also at camp where kids can be not the smartest around technology. lol

Thanks!

I have the first Flip and love it. Sound is awesome. I'm waiting for it to die so that I can get another one. Or maybe just get one.. You could go with the JBL Charge thats a little bigger. Both Charge and Flip 3 are splash proof. You could just place a freezer bag around it when you are at the beach. Comparing the Flip 3 to the first gen, there is a cover over the charging port. This will keep water out. I haven't had any problems with mine. So you should be fine. If you want more sound go with the Charge.

Do yourself a favor and spend an extra $50 for the Charge 3. If you'd like a comparison - http://gadgetmac.com/reviews/jbl-charge-3-portable-wireless-speaker-review

Thanks for the review. I bought the flip 3 not hearing it as all the demo's in my area Best Buy's were broken..Just the flip 3 but all the other JBL speakers worked.. (umm hello)
One Best Buy had the Charge 3. It definitely is a better speaker but what kills it for me is the size and weight. I can't just throw it and keep it in my backpack. Also best buy has the flip on sale for $80. I'm going to try the flip for a few days and play different kinds of music.
The sound this tiny thing produces is amazing. Much better and clearer then the UE roll/boom

After I purchase the Flip I found a Target had all of them in their listening booth. That's when I heard the difference between the Flip 2 and Charge. One of my buddies has the UE Boom which is nice too. But it's big, heavy (bulky) but the sound is nice. You are right with comparing the UE. It sounds great but when you compare it to JBL, JBL wins.

I got a flip 3 as gift, when I purchased my MBP. Works pretty well. I actually held it under the water tap, to test it and it worked flawlessly after that.

I'd personally go with the UE ROLL for those features & price point.
