Basically, it seems that the rMini use to type of screens:

Sharp: most (if not all) have some image retension, hardly visible in real life use, and otherwise very even backlight and colors. Colors are also more "vibrant" (close to the one of the iPad 3 or 4).

LG: suffer from the "yellowing", "blueish", and uneven color problem. Very variable from one rMini to another... Colors are a little more "muted".

Just my two cents...

If this is true, then I must have a screen made by Sharp. The display is bright and uniform with no yellowed areas. The colors are almost as vibrant as those on my iPhone 5. Haven't done an image retention test, as I haven't noticed any of that in normal usage.

how do you know it's not the other way around? that the Sharp is the yellow one and the LG is the bright white even one? Just curious on where you got your information.

Thanks

This is only my personnal advice, deducted from all the reading I've done on various blogs, forums and sites...
I'll be happy to discuss the matter... ;-)

I know that Samsung was also a provider for the iPad screen but, AFAIK, because of Apple vs Samsung rivalities iPad rMini and iPad Air have currently only LG and Sharp screens.

I've a screen very similar to your, even, with beautiful colors.
Compared with my iPad 3 (which as a superb screen with no IR), it's very close.

Because other devices that use LG screens have the same problem such as the 2012 Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HDX and certain smart phones.
