Is there an actual solution yet for external monitors that are not 5k? I have two thunderbolt displays that are just perfect for me, but the text issue is annoying. Figured their would be an solution by now. Better display (better dummy) only wants to reduce resolution, not fix the blurry text.

Within the better display drop down I had to create a dummy, double its resolution of the monitor I wanted to mirror to. Then mirrored it to the thunderbolt display. This effectively forces osx to smooth the font, then when its re-rendered for the mirror it looks almost like font smoothing. There may be a preset I used for 27" thunderbolt displays on the dummy.
With this setting are you still getting a 2560x1440 screen space? Or all the things gets bigger with less screen space?
