My daughter is 10, and I think it’s about time for her to get her own line. I was thinking about keeping my 8 plus for one more year, but I think I’m going to cave and do the bogo for the new iPhone X plus. Yeah, I’m weak lol...

My question is this. If you do a bogo, do you have to activate both phones? I don’t plan to give a 10 year old a brand new iPhone. I’ll be purchasing a 7 plus for her. I want the X plus AND I need a new line, so the bogo is perfect for me. From what I’ve seen, you can’t get a free x plus if you buy one. Seems like the limit is $999. So I would buy an x plus for full price of $1199(or whatever) and would get a free phone worth up to $999. So I could get the XS for free, or pay an extra $200(or however it breaks down) to get a second X plus.

My main question is how does it work with the free phone? It seems the only stipulation is you open a new line. I will have no issue with that, but I’d like to keep the free phone brand new in box so I can flip it easier. Is that how it works out? I’ll be paying cash for all of this, so no worries about the phone having a balance on it or any payments to make. I’m on Tmobile, but the assume all carriers are the same in terms of bogo.

It’s hypothetical, but odds are very high at some point there will be a bogo including the new x plus. I’ll wait until it happens, since I don’t need to have my phone day 1 or even month 1.

I said "What BOGO" not "What is BOGO"

How can we be talking already about a deal that may or may not be offered on a phone that isn't even released yet?
T-Mobile has offered a bogo on nearly every big phone. Probably not at launch, but at some point it will happen. I’m simply asking if I can keep the free phone in the box and sell it like that. No need to argue semantics. I assumed it was obvious what I was asking, but I guess on here people need to fully clarify every single statement in order to avoid being nit picked.

Sorry, but I don't have T-mobile, and I don't exactly recall seeing BOGOs plastered all over the place in the past.

I'm not nitpicking, I was asking a legit question because neither the phones nor any promotional deal have even been announced, so excuse me if your timing to ask such a question seems bizarre. If T-mobile has always done this, then it shouldn't be that difficult to find an answer to your question.

I’m asking people on here who have done the program before. I don’t like to deal with phone salesmen any more than I have to. It’s pretty much a guarantee there will be a bogo offer at some point.

I figured you would have to get service on the second phone but I looked on tmobiles web site to confirm:

"After rebate & qualifying trade-in. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance becomes due. See eligible phones below."

So yeah, you have to give them a phone to trade in and start service on the phones.

Is that for the bogo? I was under the impression all you needed to do was pay full price for one phone and open a new line. I really hope it doesn’t have to be activated on the free phone, as I have extra phones.

Edit: Just called T-Mobile and they said you just have to open a new line in general and don’t have to activate the free phone. I could have just called and not made this thread, but yeah.

Oh, well that settles it.

Don’t count on any BOGO for the new iPhone for at least 6 months. Most people are seeing this with Samsung Note and S9
Apple demand is there and they won’t be offering any deals

It was available for the X. I’m sure it’ll be available sooner than later.

I have done the bogo. You have to be careful tho. When I bought my X through AT&T it was 33.34 a month. And the iPhone 8 was 23.34, and they only gave me that much credit per month $23.34. So you want to make sure it’s actually bogo. It might be the xs+ then get a 9 for free. Or whatever they end up calling it. You would be better off getting her the new 6.1 iPhone. It’s suppose to be cheaper and still better then the 7+ would be.
