hi everyone - daft question, so please bear with me

my stepson used one of the above models ('98 vintage) for occasional net access until recently, when we had a roof leak and the thing was covered in rainwater and killed stone dead

our insurers (bless them) have said that for the price of our minimal excess, we can have a "new for old" replacement, but I need to know what the original retail price was so they can decide what we get - from memory, i'm guessing at £599 or thereabouts - anyone got a source for a definitive answer (tried mactracker, but that's all US prices) ?

    thanks in advance !

One thousand of our finest British quid, apparently.

Friends of mine had an old Black Mac TV thing, damaged by water leaks. They ended up with an eMac as replacement. I'm guessing you might be lucky to get an iMac, maybe a Mini.

yup - thanks - found that on wikipedia, too

new iMac would be cool but - yeah - i'm guessing they might just go for the cost of a mini at best - still, that'll be six hundred and fifty quid's worth of upgrades to my G5 dinosaur, so win/win, as they say...

    thanks again !

No probs. Of course, an additional possible bonus:

    £999 exactly, including VAT.

I bought mine on the Saturday after launch.
