Pete Rose was banned from baseball for cheating and it seems that is what Bonds did as well, cheat, so he should be kicked out of the game and not allowed into the Hall Of Fame.

Exactly. Bonds will go down as one of the great baseball players due to his huge numbers and records. But is he a legend, or a very good player who sold himself and the sport because he needed to be sure of a spot in the record books?

Nah, you all got it all wrong. Bonds is a selfish twit, who is trashing the foundation and the spirit of the game. He should be banned and his records stripped if found guilty. Same with Sosa. Both those guys looked like my skinny cousin when they came up, now all of the sudden they have arms the size of my legs. OR, we could just say "anything goes", and make the sport like the WWF... all show. Either way, I'll bet baseball as the "grand old game" will be gone in our lifetime. I can play MVP 2004 and relive how baseball used to be.

How COULD anyone like him? The fans mean nothing to him.

Now he has the shame of the illegal drugs. From discussions all the athletes are well aware of the rampant drug use that occurs. My advice that he acknowledges the fans, they are the ones that pay his salary. Athletes / entertainers need to learn where that money comes from.

I hate Bonds (the record is still McGwire's in my mind), but it'd be hard to strip him of his records, because they never tested him for steroids (he never tested positive anyway) during those record-breaking years. So even if he says that he received them but rarely used the "cream" and the "clear" it'd be hard to bust him as far as the HoF goes. Every fan will know though, which works just as well.

Don't forget that big Mac was using the stuff too except that it was legal when he was using it, in my opinion the record is still Roger's

No, he was banned for betting on a game involving his own team.

Yes and if Rose can be banned for gambling than Bonds should be banned for cheating.

As a life-long baseball fan, go Twins, this really makes me sad to have my worst suspicions confirmed. When the "dynamic duo" were both belting home runs at a record pace some years ago I began to suspect that something was not right. The Press mentioned reasons like expansion causing watered down pitching, and juiced balls. Now we know the truth and it hurts. How can anyone take pride in their achievements when they know they cheated to do it? Ban them all and wipe their names from any records that they may have. Damn them all, and MLB for turning a blind eye to this scandal for so many years.

let me sarcastically say that i'm glad you are not in charge of keeping track of baseball records. whether the player is liked or not is irrelevant to who owns the record.

in any case, the record is bonds'. the indication is that MLB will not retroactively punish bonds, giambi or sheffield...

and cheating and betting are two separate things. corking the bat or spitting/greasing/scuffing the ball are also cheating. are you going to kick out some HoF pitchers who has since admitted to cheating that way? where do you draw the line? (yes, there's degree of "cheating" and i realize taking 'roids isn't quite the same offense as corking the bat in many people's minds. but it's definitely not the same thing as betting on the game.)
