Bookmarks bar vs Bookmarks menu?

I've noticed there's both in Safari, but I ignore the Bookmarks menu. The bookmarks bar is the only thing that has use, right? To see your favorites at the top while browsing?

I use both. The bar for permanent and often used bookmarks, and the menu for temporary and seldom used ones.
