They have always been huge and terrible. It’s the main reason I don’t use that app and use Marvin or Kindle. Kindle is the best app in my opinion. Marvin is very customizable though.

I thought I was the only one that had a problem with this!

There isn't an option for changing the margins either:

Meanwhile - in Safari, reading Macrumors, all the space is utilized on the screen. Other apps also have no problem utilizing the space (CarrotWeather Below):

Quite frustrating. I'd love to use my 12 Pro Max to read more books but...

This is Kindle:

Crazy how bad the margins in iOS 14 are with no option to change for Apple Books.

I've submitted a few suggestions on Apple's feedback assistant on this. Please do the same :)

In fact, we can even compare it against Apple's own Safari reader to see what a poor reading experience the books app provides on the iPhone.

with macOS Calibre you can convert between book formats. You will need this with ios Marvin because it takes only epub format.

Marvin:
it posts an icon that has your book title, precentage read, time accumilated
if you click on the icon it re opens the book to your last page
i dont like that it does not scroll vertical
apparently Marvin has not been updated in a while

Yes, I submitted iOS feedback on this yesterday. Thank you.

At last. Ability to shrink margins. iOS 18.1.
