after you set up boot camp, do you need to install virus protection?
and do i need a xp disk for it? i'm getting my MBP tomorrow so i'm preparing =D

Yes, you should install AntiVirus on the Windows side if you plan to use it a lot. Mac OS X is still unaffected, but having Windows installed on a Mac doesn't prevent it from any of its usual pitfalls.

You could of course, just not use Windows on your Mac that much (you shouldn't anyway).

buy XP with use either a retail license (support + install on multiple machines) or OEM (no support + install on only one machine).

and yes use an Anti Virus if you wish… its just like any other Windows install. however your OS X install will NOT be contaminated by Windows viruses.

If your using windows to access files, VMware would be a better option to choose. Though it won't run games, if that's what you wanna do.

can i clear the xp side? i don't think i will need it much, except for MS word..
(clear it in case i get a virus)

Don't use an antivirus and haven't in many years. I wouldn't know if I had viruses or not, but my hardware firewall filters things pretty well.
