Hi there,

I have the "cannot move files" error message, and after 10hours of idefrag booted from a CD, it still says the same message.

So i assume i have to format and reinstall OSX?

I can backup using time machine to an exernal drive, thats no probs, but when i reinstall OSX i dont have my snowleopard disks to hand, would that be a problem, or would it copy from timemachine? (its at a parents house and i wont be able to get it till next week).

also any tips for doing it this way?

just need xp installed for some games.

Use SuperDuper! to clone to your external. Wipe the boot drive. Clone back. No need for discs.

What yellow said, just clone it. There is really no other way around the requirement.

cheers guys, cloneing it now.

am i right in thinking the usb drive will be bootable to restore the clone?

well... 200gig transfered and 14gig left on the clone... assuming the restore will take just as long as the clone, ill let it restore over night, and bootcamp xp when i get in from work tomorrow. 😎

EDIT: all finished now, stats on screencap.
