While I was installing XP sp3 onto boot camp I accidentally selected the dreaded "leave as is" option for formatting the drive. When it needed to restart I got the famous 'disc error, press any key to restart' in which no keys actually restart the system.

The problem is, on rebooting it I cannot get back into OSX. The System is stuck in a gray screen>error message loop. I've tried using the leopard disc to reformat or run disc utility, which it doesn't recognize in this loop and all the keyboard boot options, the only thing it did recognize is the mouse/eject disc option. I've come to terms with reformatting the system if i have to but I can't even get it out of the loop to do that. Everyone else seems to have the alt key selection available but I do not and can't get my computer to do anything whatsoever.

Just restart the mac press and hold the alt/ option key and select the osx partition. that should solve the problem.
