I have the exact opposite problem. I can only get sound through the line out or optical out, but not the Firewire sound setup I use in OSX even though I have the windows drivers for it. Must be because of the firewire connection I guess.

I would suggest downloading directly from Intel the 5400 series chipset drivers. In fact I don't use bootcamp at all. All of the drivers needed for Windows are available directly in the latest versions for each piece of hardware. Even if you install windows from scratch, you just point the install to the intel chipset drivers folder and select all of them. I even installed Win7 this way along side Vista on the same drive. All hardware is recognize on my MP.

Thanks!

I was having the same sound issue and I installed the drivers from the MacPro Install CD and everything works! Thanks man!

No Sound in Boot Camp FIXED!

Hello.

I finally figured out why my Mac Pro 1.1 has never played sound through the rear speaker jack in Windows (under Bootcamp)

After a bunch of messing around with drivers, I finally realized that it's a Hardware problem!

It seems that the rear speaker jack sensing switch is bent improperly.
If one holds the speaker plug to one side, Windows detects and uses the speakers flawlessly. (see drawing)

Why has it always worked in Mac OS? Apparently Mac OS doesn't bother to check if the speaker is plugged in and just outputs sound to the rear regardless.

Possible solutions are:

1- Replace the logic board

2- attempt to somehow fix the switch thing

3- replace just the jack - very high skill level required!

4- Find a slightly oversized speaker plug

5- Bend the speaker plug slightly

6- (my favorite) Tape the speaker wire to the case so as to cause the plug to tilt slightly (see drawing)

Yippie! Sound in Boot Camp! :D:cool::p:)

Have Fun,
Keri
