Earlier i was looking at storage space via 'About this Mac' and noticed that my bootcamp partition had only taken up 16Gb out of 51GB (about 35GB remaining)

Later on i boot into the Windows partition and realise that the space has changed. I looked at My Computer and notice that the boot camp partition only has 17GB remaining.

    Kinda weird.

Entered my MAC OS X and looked via About this Mac. It shows 17GB remaining.

Any clue how it shrunk from 35GB free space to 17GB?

Windows has virtual memory calling Paging. It can be that or the hibernation file.

And now under About this Mac it shows 30GB free. No idea why it keeps changing.

Maybe it could be the hibernation file like you said.
