Boot Chime issue

Although this isn't a very important problem, I have noticed on my early 2K8 Mac Pro the Boot POST chime will not play through external speakers. Is there a way to enable this, as it is awfully tinny from the internal speaker.

I reboot my computer every 15minutes just to listen to the fantastic boot chime. You know as long as it doesn’t make the windows startup sound, I really don’t care. It is interesting why it does that though.

No, generally because it hasn't started up enough to acknowledge your settings.
