G3 running 8.6 won't boot. Can I boot it using my old Performa 6300?
If so, how? If not, can I network the Performa with a PowerBook G4 and use the G4 to burn a CD of OS 8.6 (from the Performa) which I can then use to boot my G3? If so, where do I find the complete OS 8.6 file on the Performa's hard disk?

Thanks.

making an OS9 boot disk is pretty straightforward, just burn the whole System folder, but boot with Shift key down, extensions off (unless you can be bothered moving anything that's going to cause errors into Disabled Extensions, which might be worth doing so you can get useful extensions like networking working).

Getting to it might be a problem tho.. easiest would be to pull out the drive and put it in an external enclosure, but maybe you don't have one..
