Hey guys, I'm having a huge problem here. I got this old mac, running 10.3.9, and it's real buggy. I'm afraid it will crash at any second. I'm trying to install 10.3 into an 8 GB iPod Nano 3G so i can use it as a boot disk. These are the steps I'm taking:
Insert iPod into Mac
Open up Disk Utility, click erase with the whole device selected (the one on top of the volume) as Mac OS Extended (Should I do the one with Journaled?)
It then turns from the picture of the Nano into the white disk that appears whenever you run a .dmg file.
I then insert the disk, and install Mac OS on the iPod Nano. When installation is complete, It restarts the computer, and the iPod says "Ejecting" and goes to the "Welcome" language screen. Then when the computer boots up again with me holding down C (to choose the boot disk) the iPod doesn't appear, even though it's plugged in.
Then when I boot up normally, iTunes opens up and tells me I need 10.4 to run the iPod. (This always happens, doesn't make a difference). the Icon turns back into the iPod, and when I double click on it, It has all the Mac OS X folders, like applications, system, library, but also has the iPod ones, Notes, Calender, and Photos!
How do I make it so i can boot off the disk? I know about Carbon Copy Cloner, but I'm limited to 8 gigs and I don't know what folders are necessary to boot from the system. Im running 2.3 cause CCC 3.1 doesn't support 10.3.9.
So please help me! All help appreciated! 😱
