Boot option issue - 10.9.5

Mac OS X 10.9.5

Ever since upgrading to 10.9.5, I am no longer able to boot into the Recovery partition on my Mac. I have 2 identical boot options labeled, "Macintosh HD." Both options boot into my operating system. See the picture below.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how I could go about fixing this?

Yes, Command + R is ignored and my operating system loads normally.
