Hi (newbie here)

Little freaked by these pics I've just uploaded:

Installed an apple update last night on my 2014 Macbook Air (10.14.6), on rebooting I got a grainy sounding chime and the *graphics* on the boot screen have changed - see comparative screen pic of MacbBook Pro boot up screen (single disk image). MBP dates 2017 v.10.14.6.

Note how the highlights on the disc are reversed in some parts, the triangle on the black disk lables are reversed, the disc relief shape is different on the boot up screen for the macbook air (2 disk image).

We thought it might be Mojave no longer supporting the hinting thing - but these graphics are something else.

Cant find any info and my apple forums/ ID access is locked till I update my credit card details (nope).

Anybody else come across this graphics change? ....Looking like a reinstall right?

The EFI version distributed in the 10.14 and 10.15 updates are the same as the one distributed with macOS 11. So it has the new macOS 11 Big Sur icons.

Weird. I've verified the graphics are from the Big Sur icons - so thanks for the pointer on that Ritsuka, but I cant find any literature on the EFI updates bundled with the security updates from Apple for 10.14+. I'm running dual boot drives on my 2014 Airbook; High Sierra and Mojave. Am surprised the icons should be there when I'm not running, much less installing Big Sur. Haven't yet found any material on that either.
