i have a InstallESD.dmg file i extracted from a mountain lion.dmg file.

when i try to restore it using disk utility i get a "Restore failure-Invalid argument"

can anybody guide me on how to make a bootable USB please.


I just have

1.InstallESD.dmg extracted from a Mountainlion.dmg

2.Windows 7 PC

3.Transmac

Where did you obtain "Mountainlion.dmg?" There are no versions of OS X distributed in a .dmg format since 10.7 Lion.

I would recommend to get a proper download from the App Store to have a successful installation. It should automate everything for you.

i would like one too...but the problem is i have a mac mini and it is was in a reboot loop after a kernel panic.

so i wanted to do a clean install.got myself an install ML.dmg from tpb.:cool:

i extracted the InstallESD.dmg from poweriso.

Can you do an Internet recovery by turning on the power and holding Command+Option+R and allow it to run Internet Recovery?
