Hello All Again -----

Well finally got around the problem I had with my MP where it would not recognize the Apple keyboard during the XP install -- I just used a PC keyboard, and it worked fine to get the install done. At least I finally caught up to that point, with observations in line with many other MP owners...

Yes, the disk I/O speed is a real dog -- even after trying the Intel drivers directly, no visible change in the doggy response time. Noticed also that in Device Manager, the PCI interfaces with the chip set were "not happy" with the tell-tale yellow exclamation points. I would certainly agree that it really gets down to the drivers. XP can really rock on the MP, given the right hardware/software interface.

Unless someone else has found another trick somewhere, does not appear much else can be done until Apple gets BootCamp (its drivers) cleaned up for the MP.

We wait patiently (sorta) ---- and any new discoveries appreciated!!! Bob ;)

To pass along some experience, for what it is worth. While there is nothing earthshaking in it, it did present an issue for owners, especially new owners, of MP machines, about keyboard compatibility during the use of BootCamp to load Windows.

That, and probably the venting of alot of frustration in getting to that point, catching up as it were, after a day and half of bench work with my new MP.

Long story short. Cheers -- Bob ;)

Thanks for the moral support. I think the anxiety of seeing the Mac Pro just fly with both OS X and Windows is getting to me... ;) ... a time of high anxiety. I am sure it will come with the right drivers from Apple, and when it does, the MP will supplant my Athlon machine for gaming and work stuff -- and to have both OS's on one high-performance system is just a dream machine.

Tks -- Bob

Sorry sorry, I was just curious whether he had some news to share. Not trying to be harsh.
