Bootcamp/parallels virus question?

Hi Guys
My daughter is also switching to Mac, (21" iMac),
She feels her teaching and university platforms that are Windows,
Will require her to run Windows on her home Mac

Should she run antivirus software for the Windows program?

Yes she should - the free Microsoft Security Essentials will do fine.

I used that since it was introduced as my only anti-virus at home and in addition to the paid one at work, which was less dependable.

I'm guessing the Microsoft Security Essentials would be better with Windows 8?
She has been using Vista
