Hi I am new to Mac. I will be using to boot camp to install windows 7 and was wondering how much space i should partition?

I was thinking only about 80 GB (I have a 500 GB HDD). I will only use windows 7 to use certain programming IDE's for assignments for school. Also if there was a situation that would require me to use Windows. Other than those situations the rest would be strictly Mac OS.

I will be installing Windows 7 Pro

80GB should be fine, although I'd use 100GB unless you know you'll need it on OS X. Make sure to install the 64-bit version, too.

80GB should be plenty for what you will be doing. I have 100GB allocated on my Bootcamp partition and have installed lot of large programs like Oracle, SQL Server, and other BI applications and so far I have only used 70GB.
