Ok so I had windows 7 installed via bootcamp but, windows being windows, the partition wouldn't load up so I erased it and was going to reinstall windows. Now I have two hard drive in my MacBook book so the SuperDrive is not inside anymore. I have an external disk drive but bootcamp doesn't detect the windows disc in it.

Now my question is, if I buy the SuperDrive external enclosure and connect it using the USB, would bootcamp detect it as if it was still in the computer? Thanks for the help.

The SuperDrive will not work unless it's a MacBook air or one of the newer minis. I'd swap the old internal drive back in or google how to install from a flash drive. Te flash drive solution may work best in your case

Does it make a difference that the disc drive is the one from inside the MacBook pro not the stand alone SuperDrive for the air?

I wish I could find a flash drive solution but have not had any luck with a couple of them.

Thanks for the help.

The only way to bootcamp is to have the super drive INSIDE the MBP, Windows being Windows, it will not boot off of USB, hence why you're not able to install it.
