ok im trying to set up bootcamp with xp. when i open up bootcamp and select the size of partition i want everything seems fine it asks me to put xp disk which i do and goes through a setup when done it asks where to install windows. it only gives one choice c: and doesn't say bootcamp next to it. i tried using it and it erases my OS X. so i have to reinstall OS X.

Is this by any chance a "System Restore" version of XP? Probably shipped with another system? If so it's doing what is is designed to do.

nope it is a retail copy of xp with sp2. i had another hard drive sitting round so tried it with that one and it worked fine.

although i couldn't get wifi or right click to work in xp. i tried to put the SL disk in because i heard it has drivers but it said something was a wrong old file and couldn't do anything.
