After having bootcamped windows 7 onto an early 2008 iMac, before I installed the apple support software I could not get any sound to come out of the internal speakers what so ever and with my external speakers the volume has to be turned all of the way up in order to hear anything, after I installed the support software with the Realtek sound driver the internal speakers worked but with bad quality and a background noise but now the external speakers would not work because the audio out socket was identified as an audio in socket.

How can I get the audio working through my external speakers at good sound levels?

You sure you have the latest drivers from Mac?
