BootCamp Windows 7 - Stuck on what to do.

Here's the situation: I have Windows 7 ready to dual-boot with my Snow Leopard iMac. I already have Windows XP installed and would like to replace that with my copy of Windows 7 without loosing any files. Since I have a ton of games installed under XP do I just move all those files to my hard drive I'm also using for time machine then delete the partition and install windows 7? Or could I upgrade XP to windows 7 from XP itself without doing any partition work?

this is a Windows installation topic. it should be posted in the Windows on the Mac thread.

you need to do a clean install of Windows 7 from XP http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-xp-to-windows-7.

your best bet is to backup your files to an external drive. Then boot off your Win7 disc and format your current Windows partition and install a fresh copy of 7.

You have to remember that XP is well over eight years old so Microsoft isn't really under any obligation to provide an upgrade for it.
