OK, so I deleted my iBook's iPhoto Library today, and attempted to retrieve it using Data Rescue II. Retriving the files wasn't the problem; trying to boot the iBook was. It got stuck with a blue screen and the spinning gear thingie. I restarted, ran FSCK, and while it was checking the catalog, it gave me two errors:
incorrect block count for .store.db
incorrect block count for store.db
FSCK failed at that point. A scan with the AppleCare TechTool CD yielded the same result. I didn't bother trying to repair it.
On the subsequent boot using verbose mode, it ended up stuck in an infinite loop at "SystemStarter[41]: Waiting for IFC." I let it do this for about 45 minutes before giving up and shutting down.
I'm thinking I hosed something. I'm kind of afraid to do anything else. Any ideas?
