I have been having problems with my Macbook running SL since the time of the 10.6.1 update. I installed 10.6 on top of a working Leopard installation. Since them, I have been experiencing crashes of native apps including iTunes, Textedit, Grab, Numbers. No 3rd party apps seem affected. I have a few steps that I know will crash iTunes and then TextEdit every time.
Took the Macbook to the Genius Bar and showed them the crashes. They did an install of 10.6.0 (over the current installation) and the crash was reproduced. Created a new user account and tried to reproduce the crash steps and it did not happen. The Genius could not come up with a common preference/file that would cause these crashes and advised me to migrate all data to a new user account. Before starting all that work, I wanted to check in here and see if that was a reasonable step compared to doing an erase and install (which would of course be much more work - but worth it if the apps stop crashing).
Thanks in advance,
E
