Thinking about getting some descent speakers for the iMac. I mainly just listen to music (my music library, streams from internet radio sites). I dont really see movies or play games. Do you guys think the C3 will do for my needs?

IMHO - the 5 is a waste of money. Stick with the 3 - you will love them.

The way I saw it when I had this dilemma was that I was spending a lot of money on some speakers that were gonna last. It is a relatively small price increase for a great feature, the simulated 5.1, and you also get a lot more power to the acoustimass unit and twice as many speakers in the satellites. That made it an easy decision.

Why not spend less money for a better speaker or even a pair of monitors?

What i'm wondering is if Bose is gonna upgrade this C3 model. I mean they came out I believe in 2006, so I don't know if they are going to bump it.

I found a set of Bose Companion 5's for $225, some dealer via Amazon. Love the controls on it and they sound great and take up very little space. Some people like Bose, some don't, but for a consumer level speaker they do the job well if you can find a deal on em.

That may run contrary to being a loyal Apple consumer, no? :D

While at $350 you can get quite a few different pairs of monitors. Logitech's Z5500s sound a tad bit better and if you are looking to save money a pair of Klipsch Pro Media 2.1's will still sound way better and cost way less.
