Hi!

Just bought the Bose Companion 5. Awesome speakers, just one minor problem.

It seems that whenever I start playing audio the kernel_task cpu load goes up to about 12% and the CPU on my MBpro easily heats up to about 70°C. I know that's not really problematic, but still it's quiet stupid that my computer runs hot when playing some audio over an external soundcard 😕

Is this due to the fact that the set just uses a generic (CPU hungry) Usb soundcard driver? Any solution?

why do you use an external sound card in the first place?

The way I see it the set has an external soundcard inside of the acoustimass module. You connect your mac through USB to the module. A normal line in is also available but then no 5.1 sound is simulated.
