Hi there,

I followed an online tutorial on replacing the broken fan in my macbook A2179, however afterwards it would not turn on. In the process of trying to uninstall and reinstall the fan I broke the connector that goes to the headphone jack board. Does anyone know if the laptop can turn on without being connected to this board, and if so what else may be causing it not to turn on.

Thanks

Is the a2179 a 2020 Air?

I have no idea if the broken audio board connector would prevent the MacBook from turning on but I would not think so since it's not carry power.

Is it possible that there is a loose connection? The battery was disconnected when removing and re-installing the fan? Did you test the replacement fan before starting the fan swap?

Yeah its the early 2020 air model. I had reconnected the battery, and I'm pretty sure the laptop can run even if the fan isn't connected since I removed the old broken fan a few days prior.
Thanks for the response.

Have you disassembled the MacBook to look for physical damage or blown capacitors?

If everything looks good, it may be time to take it to a Mac repair shop that performs board-level repairs.

yea I think I'll have to take it to a repair shop. I appreciate the advice.
