Bottom of screen has lines on it

Does anyone know how to get rid of this grey bar with little white vertical lines at log the bottom of my iPhone 6 (see photo)? My toddler has had her hands on my phone eek! The lines don't affect use of applications but they prevent me opening the 4 apps that they 'cover' as I have to tap the screen many times before the app opens. (Obviously I can move the apps up higher but I have since realise that the lines affect a few other things eg. attaching a document to an email.

Given the attached screenshot, which lines are you referring to? And which apps are you not able to open? I can't say I see any apps being covered by anything.
