With all these problems with the screens, these sellers probably have the older iMacs that have the problems. Is it easy to notice the problem? i guess ill find out in a couple days.

If u are going to find out in a few days, why make a pointless thread?

No one here will ever and never should make u decide to purchase something or not! If u let other ppl decide what u should do with ur money u will end up with nothing and nowhere.

From what I understand you should notice a yellow tinge right off the bat if you are worried about defects. The screen flicker may not be noticeable right away but may appear after a few days of use. I would give it a week of good use to determine any flaws. You could also check your serial number to find out what week it was made. Mine is week 51 and no issues so far.

    Good luck!!

I think it will be alright, even if it does have some of the problems -- you'll be able to get it fixed under warranty. Getting an exchange might be harder or impossible, but it's not like people are having good luck going that route.

Just inspect it for stuff that might not be fixed under warranty that the seller didn't disclose (e.g., a big dent in the side), and work that stuff out with the seller.

Good luck and enjoy it. Also, there are good older units out there (and bad newer units).

I guess you must be new to the internet, eh?

i guess thats not what he did want to read , but you got a point there
he already bought it so no point to worry about after it happened

his only hope is now that the baby comes with arms and legs and a head

    good luck

So you smarty boys who make fun of the OP, you think he should boil until his imac arrives?
He was probably expecting something more like "Not all iMacs on ebay are from the first weeks", "Not all iMac from first weeks had problems" etc.

And of course you expect an iMac on ebay to be below what Apple or resellers sells them at, otherwise why would you ever buy it on ebay, to pay for the high shipping a heavy object with insurance will have?

Right, so you're saying we should give him false hope, just tell him anything he wants to hear to make him feel good? In other words patronize him.
For anyone who bought an iMac on Ebay, recognizes that they are in the know about issues with the product, but then comes here asking if they should be worried? My answer is, YES! I'm not here to patronize people and tell them something I cannot confirm (such as "Not all iMacs from first weeks had problems. Not all iMacs on Ebay are from first weeks") just to make them feel good about the high risk they just took.

Would the OP prefer us to be honest with our answers or patronize him? :p

No, but that could be the case.

Replies like "hey it's from ebay it gotta have a billion problems" are so uneducated.

Can you guarantee that the iMac you will buy from a normal store or online store, will be newer than one from ebay? Can you guarantee that it will not have problems?

Of course there is risk, it's not like you test the iMac you get at the apple store? Or you can't return the iMac you bought from ebay to the seller or even apple?
It does have warranty you know...

ok to be fair to the op
dont worry there are good and fair ebay sellers out there who give you your money back no questions asked if it would not work like described or if it would be damaged in transport
