So I wanted to record some time lapse videos over the winter using the 6 plus, but you really need a tripod so I went out and bought 2.

Bought the JOBY mount at the Apple Store and didn't even realize it's magnetic!

And the other mount bought at CVS for 15 bucks. Even came with a BT remote and attachment is standard with all tripods.

Both fit the plus just fine, perfect for time lapse or any kind of video.

Do you know if either of those mounts will work with an Otterbox Defender case?

The XL version of the Joby GripTight will fit the 6+ with an Otterbox. I have one and use it with my 6+ in a Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro case and there's still room to spare.

Perhaps I'm ignorant, but what would those be useful for?

Only thing I plan on using mine for is time lapse videos. It's impossible to hold the phone level for 15 minutes or so without one.

All you need is the black leather couch and you're all set! ;)

Did you buy the larger mount direct from their website? The mount I have works but it could use a slightly larger range with the plus,

One of the things I plan to use the GorillaPod for is to attach to my golf bag at the driving range and record my golf swing for practice/learning purposes. 240 fps slo-mo allows you a real good look at what you're doing wrong (which in my case is a lot of things!). It would also be useful for night/low-light shots, which can be blurred from camera shake if hand-held - and also for time-lapse photography, as others have said. Also useful for getting more creative selfies (if you're into that kind of thing), or being able to get into group shots rather than being the one behind the camera and not in the picture.

I did buy it directly from their website. In stock and they shipped quickly.

Maybe I was searching for the wrong product. I just want the top piece since I already paid for the legs with magnetic tips. I saw this

That's the right piece if you're just looking for the camera mount itself. I didn't have the legs, so needed the whole setup. Hopefully they'll get it back in stock soon.

Thanks, yeah mine fits the plus but with no room to spare. Since I don't use a case it's fine but I'm gonna buy the XL piece you mentioned after Xmas for s better fit.

looks like a nice quality piece.
