I bought a macbook 2.0 ghz 3 weeks ago which i have since upgraded to 4 gb of memory and it works great. I really really love this computer.

I'm just sort of annoyed that less than a month later a faster macbook pro is a little cheaper. I know its basically the EXACT same thing with .26 ghz faster processor, and that they basically just slapped the word pro onto it, but I can't help but think I maybe should have just waited.

Anybody else a little annoyed by this?

bought a new iphone 3g a couple months ago too, and now the s...... ugh.

Sorry, but did nobody see this coming? Honestly, what did you expect? People here have been saying for weeks, if you could've waited, you should've.

Regardless, you have the same computer today as you did yesterday. Nothing to be pissed about.

And I bought my iPhone 3g in March, and I don't regret it at all. I knew there'd be a new version this summer, but honestly couldn't have cared any less. The iPhone 3g suits me well, and it'll continue to do so.

No you shouldnt have waited... You bought the computer when you did because you needed it or wanted it.. You were happy with it just until today.
Come on seriously, Im sure your MacBook does exactly what you need it to do as is... (or you probably wouldnt have bought it)

I just bought a the early 2009 whitebook as well and I am not one bit disappointed.

I could really careless about the updates they've made. I'm pretty happy with my whitebook and will soon be upgrading it to 4GBs RAM.

Unless I was one of those people who just have to have the latest piece of technology, then I would be.

EDIT: I agree with shady825.

Think of it this way - at least you didn't buy a Dell. With their just-in-time pricing, the price you pay can fluctuate by $300 or more over just a few hours.
How'd that do ya for buyer's remorse?

Yea, the way i see it is be happy with what you got!
Everyone whos mad was most likely just happy with there purchase 24hrs ago..

I waited 2 months and happy i waited. I didnt really need the laptop until school starts and it sounds like u did at the time or u would have waited as well. Be happy with ur laptop and dont look back.

This will be my first ever mac and i am excited to get my hands on a 13 inch mackbook pro!

I feel the same way. I am really happy with this computer and it is all I need and want. But at the same time, I am within the 14 day return window, so mine as well return it and get the newest technology. Also, it could extend the life of my purchase.

Don't second guess yourself, does it still do what you need it to do just like it did when you bought it?

If I were one of those people I obviously wouldn't have gone with the lowest end aluminum macbook.

I'm just a little peeved that the low end has risen so much in less than a month. Regardless, I do like the computer very much as I have said. It is by far the nicest one I own.

I just wish someone at the apple store could have mentioned that they might be rolling out new ones this soon. But on the other hand, maybe they just didn't know when they would be doing so. About a week after I bought the mac (with student discount, just graduated and still have my student ID) they had the promotion where you get a free ipod touch, and luckily I was still able to take advantage of the promotion afterward because of how recently I had purchased it. So that's a bright side to the situation.

Just to re-explain, I'm not upset about the quality of the computer, I still love it. I guess I should have known about the sweeping changes about to happen, but who really knows what apple is up to? All I know is that I'm progressively becoming more and more of a hardcore mac user.

I bought my macbook before I found this website, or even knew about WWDC, but I made a point to ask if there would be any upgrades in the next few months and the person at the apple store said that he was 100% certain htere would not be any updates until at least October.

Jerk.

Thats funny! They usually dont know SH*T!
The day after the 17" Pro was upgraded (last time) I was at the Apple store and asked them about it and the guy looked at me like I was crazy. I was obviously the first to tell him that the 15" Pro was upgraded...
Pretty ridiculous if you ask me!

Well Snow Leopard will be released in Sept, if that makes it any better

Well I bought my Macbook a week ago (posted about getting the new screen in another thread too) but unfortunately I'm in China right now and won't be home until the end of the month. So I'll be outside the return window when I get back. If I were home I'd have returned it for the new Pro immediately.

So sad but what are you going to do?

You learned the hard way not to place too much trust in what the 'geniuses' tell you. How could he / she be 'certain' about there being no updates until october, it's not like geniuses are in the know about what's coming out when. Could it be that he was just telling you bs to sell you a laptop now?

I've gotten so much mis-information off geniuses in the past, as far as I'm concerned they're more on the dunce side of things, not the genius side.

I'm in the same boat. I just switched over to Apple from Microsoft so I had no idea of the current Apple news. So I got my MacBook a couple weeks ago and they just released new products. But that doesn't bother me because this MacBook works great; I love it, everything is good (except for my slow internet, but thats another problem).

Don't worry about it. Its just "stuff", there are more important things out there.

Just purchased a Macbook 2.4 last week ... even though I knew Apple was going to be releasing an update since they had bumped the speed on the white Macbook.

Not the least bit disappointed with not getting the MBP, and looking forward to the coming years with the uMB I purchased with AppleCare

I just did the same. I love this laptop, and I called my local Apple Store and they said that it was too late. I bought it around the first week of may or so, and if you do anything, there is a 10% restocking fee:cool:

They have no idea when new products are coming out, they told me that over the phone.

I like your style Adam, well put. When it comes down to it, you still have an amazing computer. I could understand being upset if Apple bumped it up to a 4.0 GHz C2D, 16GB of ram and a 1 TB drive, but they didnt. A better screen, neat SD slot and better battery...We can always buy a card reader, hook up an external monitor that is 5x better that that one, plus, atleast we can change our batteries!

An interesting sequence of events led to me getting a MacBook Pro 2.53...

So as I mentioned, I did a return of the macbook earlier just to get in on the free ipod deal going on. They did it for me on June 2nd even though the receipt said that the last day to return was June 1st (probably because I wasn't actually returning it, just doing so on paper and repurchasing it immediately without any real exchange of hardware or currency). However, this gave me ANOTHER 14 day grace period to return my computer, which I did today.

I ended up springing for the 2.53 GHz MacBook Pro, which I upgraded to at a decent price.

I'm just really glad I don't even have to face the possibility of living in regret over not getting my money's worth.

Sorry, I didn't want to stick with the "collector's edition" if I didn't have to.

ok so at the begining of may i ordered the 17in macbook pro max'd out i paid close to 5,000 here are the specs

17 in anti-glare
2.93 ghz
8 gig ram
320 gig hd @ 7200
apple care

now they offer
17in anti glare
3.06
8gig
500 gig @ 7200
apple care
Plus a free ipod touch

for like 600 bucks cheaper!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

I wouldn't be so mad except i got the computer a month after it was orderd and two weeks later they updated the products.

Do you think i can take it to my local apple store and see if they'll give me a free ipod touch.?

Also the screen scrambles a bit at start up and lags when editing hd video! other wise a good mac

WWDC has only been debated, talked about, mentioned, referred to, and known for how long now? If you stopped by MacRumors ONCE at any point and read the first page you would have likely known 80% more than you evidently did.

For the life of me, I have no idea why this comes as such a surprise - it happens after every event. "I just bought MacA, and now they have MacB for $X less!!!" If people RESEARCHED a little before making such a purchase they wouldn't be in that situation, and because they couldn't be bothered, it's suddenly the company's fault.

You now have an older computer. A working, older computer, that does everything you wanted it to do from the day you bought it (and still does), else you wouldn't have bought it. Later in time, the product changed. That's life. Live on.

You are the epitome of everything I just touched on. If anyone on this earth is going to drop five grand for a computer, or ANYTHING, why on this green earth would you not research it first!? Again, if you had read MacRumors at all, the date for WWDC09 has been known since the close of WWDC08. 100% your fault.

Read. For the love of God, people. Read.

Since you only received the computer two weeks before the update, you may be covered. You'll never know until you try.
