Called up apple they told me to contact att. When called up att they had a conference call with apple and was told to restore in itunes so I did and still same problem. Please help.

Maybe it is attached to the sim card. What happens if you take the sim card out?

Check to see if there is a sim actually in the slot. If not, then get a sim, insert it, and restore. Maybe it is having an issues because it HAD an account and the sim was removed by the previous owner without deactivating cellular data.

Go to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and they will just give you a new micro-sim for your iPad.

You need a new microsim. Once it has been used for an account you can't use for another account. You need to go to an AT&T store to get one. It normally costs $15. Maybe you can get them to give it to you for free but don't count on it.

If you're a good AT&T customer they will give you a new SIM for free, just ask them nicely. Make sure to go to the corporate store, not authorized dealer.

All depends on the store. I did that and the person in the store couldn't or wouldn't do that. They called support who eventually OKed a free sim but I have a family plan with three iPhones in addition to the iPad.
