I can't believe this
My wife and I bought our phones on Friday, now it's Monday night and the phones are still without service!

Is anyone else in the same boat or do they have any news on when we will be connected

This is strange. I would definitely contact O2 if you haven't already.

I bought my iPhone 3G at the Trafford Centre, on Saturday,
and was connected immediately after activation of the unit had completed.

I left the store with signal and able to make calls.

tried to ring them before, but they closed at 9
They are open at 8am

What kind of compensation do you think I should ask for?

You're far from alone in this - absolutely masses of people are affected. Should be connected sometime tomorrow... as for compensation, from what I've heard I wouldn't hold your breath too much....

very true, someone on another thread got no compensation while someone else kicked up enough enough fuss to get a free gift so its always worth a try!

Are you sure they are not activated or are you just outwith O2's coverage?

Their coverage is easily the worst of the major networks in the UK. I get no service in my home.

Well geez, you haven't even talked to them yet?

It took me 3 days to get connected here, and it finally worked because I kept calling and finally someone fixed the problem.

If you haven't even called yet I don't think you can complain. If you call and they don't do anything THEN come back and talk to us.

Remember you'll also need to be within the O2 coverage for the phone to recognise that you have been activated. They can't activate your phone if you don't have a signal!

That maybe the case with colcass, but I think it's more likely with the backlog of activation - from what I've heard from Saturday, this affected all people who bought from CW. Don't claim that this is definitely true, but it's what staff were told - and I've been told the situation wasn't much better at O2. This site - http://autumnskies.co.uk/iphone/ - firmly puts the blame at CW's door.

I wish you would stop banging on about how you don't get O2 coverage in your home in Fife, yes there are generally blank spots for all networks in some areas.

Just to let you know, I can get all networks where I live.

Both of our phones pick up all of the networks but it is not activated to the network yet as it just says "no service"

I am having the same situation, I was starting a new contract and having my O2 PAYG number transferred, since 8:50 PM on Sunday I haven't had any service on my PAYG SIM and hadn't had any prior to that on my contract SIM.

I spoke to O2 at around 11 AM today, they said it would be sorted by 8:50 PM tonight. I am still without service.

they will have said 8.50 so when you try ringing them now they are shut

Your not alone! I've had mine since Friday and still getting the 'no service' message. Spoke with o2 three time today the last being about 8.30 and they assure me it will be activated within the next 24 hours. But then again they did tell me at 4pm today it would be within the next 5 hours.

I am having a development...

My phone is now searching... constantly.

iTunes is now showing up the Phone Number category, albeit with N/A.

Hopefully it'll be sorted soon. :)

EDIT

I removed the SIM and put it back in, now back to No Service. :(
