Short and simple, I bought COD4 to use with my last laptop, after it got installed I think I threw away the box and case(stupid I know), but now that I tried to install it on my macbook, I can't because I don't have a cd key. My last laptop is gone so I can't use one of those programs to find a cd key. Is there anything I can do(legal, I don't want to pirate a copy) to install it?

Maybe contact Aspyr and tell them your situation.

Walmart can't help you.
I agree, contact Aspyr. Tell them whats up and they may supply you with a new key. Walmart doesn't control the codes and won't let you exchange for a new one after 90 days with no receipt. And they're iffy' on it anyways because it has been opened. Contact the game manufacturer.

Sorry, but it sounds like you're SOL.

If you don't have the box and CD case, or any other way of proving you actually purchased the game, Aspyr isn't likely to help you out.

I'm not saying don't contact them though, I'd at least try to call or email. Good luck!

He could take a pic of the disc with his name written on a piece of paper or something.

I sent them an email, and they replied telling me to either call them or send a picture of the game cd, so I sent them a picture, hopefully they'll contact me again soon.

I guess it's my fault for not mentioning this, but it's a pc copy, so they told me to contact activision:eek:, looks like I have to wait a few more days...

who buys a game CD...opens up the package....doesnt put the game into the laptop right away....but instead proceeds to throw away all the materials..

i say the game is either copied or used.

If you read my first post, you will see I did install it, I just didn't play it much because it had x3100 graphics and it played horrible, now that I have a macbook with a 9400m I wanted to play it. Next time read my post before you flame me as a pirate.

Edit: I said I think I might have thrown away the materials, that or I lost them, because I was cleaning my room and saw no further need for them.

Some companies like Valve will allow you to prove ownership by faxing them a copy of the original disk. I did this for the original Half Life when my key would not work on Steam, but of course in that case I had a key. Now would Aspyr go for this? Maybe, probably not without a key of some proof of ownership. You can always ask.

Yeah, aspyr told me they couldn't do anything for the pc version and to contact activision, now I'm just waiting to hear back from them, otherwise I'll try to contacting steam.
