Hi! I bought an iPhone 6 a little over a week ago at Costco (64 GB, TMobile) and I need to exchange it because it is doing odd things (froze up and required home button and sleep/wake button press to turn off--not happy. My iPhone 5 never did that!). I'd kind of like to pay the extra money and exchange it for an iPhone 6 Plus. My question is: do I have to return it to Costco, which doesn't have any 6 Pluses in stock, or can I bring it to my local Apple Store and pay the extra hundred dollars to buy up to a 6 Plus? If it matters, I already paid off the EIP on the iPhone 6.

I called Apple and asked them, and they said no, but it seems to me that I've read differently in this forum. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

No you cannot. That phone would have to go back to Costco then take the money and go get the 6 Plus from Apple. Apple will only exchange it with a white box replacement.

Bought iPhone 6 at Costco--can I exchange it for 6 Plus at Apple Store?

You return it at the same place you purchased it from.

Even if you could, finding a 6 Plus at an Apple store is like finding a virgin at a maternity ward.

Hmm. Costco gives you a better deal on iPhone purchases, at least in Texas. They don't make you pay sales tax on the first $649 of the iPhone purchase price, saving you about $53 in this state. So if I just return it to Costco and rebuy it from Costco, I'm out $53 :-(

You mean return it to Costco and rebuy from Apple your out $53? Doesn't Costco give you a $50 discount off of the subsidized price as well?

iOS 8 on the iPhone 6 has a BUNCH of little bugs like the one you describe. I don't think anything is wrong with your iPhone 6. Certainly don't compare it to your iPhone 5 experience on iOS 6/7.

I've had numerous weird freezes crashes on my 6 Plus, fyi, and so have several of my friends with 6/6 Plus devices.

To answer your question, nope you can't exchange the phone at the Apple Store, since they have no receipt/original order to return/exchange it for you. That's even aside from the stock issue.

It is a $25 Costco gift card now, in addition to the $53 tax savings. Perhaps it was more in the past...

Just went and looked online. Looks like it is only a $20 discount of the sub price now. Didn't see any iPhones for T-Mobile though. I think your only options are to return it to Costco and wait for a 6+ to come in or keep it and do a restore as new to get the bugs out.

Sorry guys--guess I misread or misunderstood it somewhere. Thanks so much for all your help!
