I've purchased two iPhones by pre-order with home delivery on launch days. I didn't pre-order this year and decided to upgrade my iPhone 5 at the Apple Store the Sunday of launch weekend. The store was packed and an associate asked if I had made a reservation. I hadn't.

I was sent to a short iPhone line and checked in. I asked for a 6S, 64G, AT&T in Space Gray. With the phone in stock I was made an appointment and walked out about 20 minutes later with the phone and case.

I've typically spent the week prior to launch day glued to the carrier's tracking website while burning a vacation day on Friday. The walk-in went well. How did your 6S / 6S Plus buying experience go?

Why does everyone post this type of thread? We go to grocery store and buy groceries just like everyone else
We don't come here and ask how their checkout went?.

Your day went just as 99% of people and that's how they will answer

Last week I made an online reservation at 5pm. Left work at 5:05 was at Apple Store at 5:30. Walked out with my new vzw 6s 64gb by 6pm. This store was a zoo.

Hello Everyone,

I have preordered my AT&T version model A1633 on September 12 in Apple Store using my moms account. Paid in full on lunch day, received it on 25th. Tested with 3 different SIM cards AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile, so mine is factory unlocked no waiting in lines or seeing big crowds and big lines. Planning to test Sprint network.
I have been ordering on Apple.com since iPhone 4s never waited in lines. I would recommend not to go in any store it's not worth waiting in lines. Best thing is to order from Apple Store and not to get tide to any carrier.

The 6S is not in demand. These posters are all bragging about how easy it is to get a 6S.

The 6S plus is more in demand. I live in orlando area. And it's pretty hard to make a reservation to get a 6S plus. I think only a few in the 16gb 6s plus models are in one of the 3 stores.

Demand is still high for 6S plus. Although not as high demand as 2014 6 plus.

Since the 4.7 inch model sold 6-7 times more than the 5.5 inch models (according to reports from last year). Apple simply doesn't need make as many 5.5 inch models thus using simple logic. Mainly techies who want the las test greatest (and bigger size) want the 5.5 inch when they first come out

The reason the 6s is easier to get is due to better manufacturing yields on the smaller screen and better planning by Apple this year vs last year.

Fortunately this past Friday I managed to get two 6s plus at local Best Buy - they only got a few in and I lucked out (didn't have any on launch day but had many 6s). I got space gray and rose gold for my wife both 128gb. So there is a shortage still of 6s plus and many stores did not receive many or none at all. I'm in Canada btw.

I cx my preorder and got an ATT 6s+ 128gb Space Grey on launch day at ATT store at 8am. Store was empty---

I think launching in China at the same time as everywhere else really put a damper on the scalping business. There were way fewer where I live compared to last year when it was like an overwhelming hoard. Demand probably was not nearly as pent up (still as big, just not as pent up) as last year.

iPhone 6S Plus supply is very short though, just like last year.

They had a lot more walking this year. I do recall a lot of walking for the 6 last year too though. They made quite a few more 6 than 6 plus, last year anyway.

When one tests a network, what and when will they get results that can be compared? Seems they make power changes during the day and at night. Also where you are at has when testing them, has a lot to do with what signal quality you receive.
So I question how anyone really knows what carrier is the best.

My brother bought a walk-in iPhone 6s 16gb Gold at an Apple Store on launch day without a reservation around 2:00 PM.
