Bought iPhone, Need help

Hey guys.

So I bought this iPhone 5 off eBay and I'm trying to activate it but it has that iCloud thing on it so i cant without the iCould information.

I believe it is running iOS 7.1 but I cant tell.

Is there any current way to get past this?

I don't think anything can help you because the phone could be stolen.

The only thing you can do is contact the original owner (the seller?) and have him/her remove the iCloud Activation Lock. Beyond that there's not much you can do (aside from perhaps simply returning the phone and getting refund).

File a dispute with eBay and PayPal and get your money back.
The phone is iCloud locked and useless. Most likely stolen.

Other than the fact that this thread is three years old, how is it easy?

How do you get access to the springboard to jailbreak if it's iCloud locked?
